Biography

Cassidy Creek is a sculptor, educator, and materials researcher whose work explores the intersection of ecological systems, architecture, and collective experience. Working across sculpture, installation, and socially engaged art, she creates immersive environments and material-driven works inspired by the relationship between natural and man-made systems. Drawing on her background in ceramics, welding, metal casting, and mold-making, Creek’s practice is influenced by molecular structures, shifting landscapes, coastal erosion, and architectural forms that lean, settle, and pull at the seams, reflecting the instability of climate-impacted environments in South Louisiana.

Alongside her studio practice, Creek develops participatory and dialogue-based projects centered on storytelling, collaboration, and public engagement. She has worked with environmental organizations, schools, museums, community workshops, gallery audiences, and both adult and juvenile detention centers. She views art as a form of social and environmental infrastructure capable of fostering collective experience, collaboration, and ecological restoration.

Her current material research focuses on environmentally supportive approaches to sculpture and public art, including regenerative oyster-lime plasters, bio-based composites, coastal restoration materials, and sustainable building applications. Her work explores how art can function not only symbolically, but also materially through habitat restoration, landfill diversion, and carbon-conscious practices.

Creek earned her MFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Sculpture from Louisiana State University in 2017. From 2011 to 2013, she served as a resident artist and community educator at Red Star Studios in Kansas City. Moving forward, she is interested in expanding her collaborative practice through partnerships with architects, musicians, dancers, performers, and environmental organizations to create immersive public works that continue evolving through collective activation and long-term community engagement.
